Come and take a peek into my spring make-up bag and how I switch out my products.

The big spring clean.
I love to have a change around of my daily makeup bag around spring time, the weather gets warmer, so I like to make little changes to not only explore forgotten products in my makeup collection but to give my skin a breather from the thicker foundations and moisturisers that I usually use in winter.
I'm usually quite black and white when it comes to my makeup routine, but this makeup swap allows me to introduce different things out of my usual routine and try working with new products.
This year I wanted to document it and show you the simple swaps that I've made to spice up my makeup bag.
Moisturiser

Throughout winter my go to moisturiser is the Liz Earle Skin Repair. I can't rave about this product enough (If you've read my How I Cured my Acne post you'll know this already.) However, my when the weather changes and my skin needs something a little bit lighter, I have discovered my new holy grail, the Origins Gin-zing moisturising gel. It's light water-like texture makes it so easy to use and the perfect substitute for a primer too! Its amazing orange scent is just an added bonus with a moisturiser like this! Definitely give this a try.
Bronzer

Now this one is less of a swap, more of an introduction of a product. I use the Benefit original Hoola Bronzer every single day, without fail. I think it will always be a staple in my makeup bag and I'm not planning on parting with it any time soon. This being said, I set out to find the perfect cooler toned bronzer for extra definition that would work well with my trusty Hoola, and the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder is absolutely perfect. I wear the shade medium and I find this fits my skin tone both with and without a tan. The powder itself is super pigmented, so a little goes a long way, when applying it lightly with an angled contouring brush, it blends effortlessly and looks completely natural.
Eyebrows

I've always been a powder kind of girl when it comes to my eyebrows. I think this stemmed from being too hesitant to experiment with bolder brows but I recently decided to bite the bullet and purchase the infamous Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in the shade 'Taupe'. Swapping out my favourite Laura Mercier Sketch and Intensify was a very daring move for me, I had become so reliant on this duo however I knew it wasn't doing me any favours anymore, I needed something new. I recently purchased my 2019 spring pair of glasses with a lighter and thinner frame, meaning my eyebrows are now more visible than in my previous glasses which pushed me to experiment with my brows.
Mascara

When it comes to spring, I always swap out my mascara for a waterproof alternative to avoid any make-up faux-pas. This year I have decided to revisit an old favourite, the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara. This mascara really does live up to its reputation, it's amazing! It is on the thicker side so if you have naturally longer lashes and love a clumpier lash look that still looks natural, this is the mascara for you. I find if anyone's going to compliment my makeup, it'll be about my lashes and I can only thank this mascara for this and that is exactly why I swapped out my day-to-day Benefit Rollerlash for it.
Lipstick

I admit it, I am definitely pretty boring when it comes to lipstick, it's just not my thing. I don't really tend to experiment with my lip products and I stick with what I know, keeping it simple with a focus on my eyes instead. This is something I've told myself I need to work on, push my lipstick boundaries and try out new products, which is exactly why I have introduced the Laura Mercer Créme Smooth Lipstick in the shade 'Audrey' into my spring make-up bag. The deep rose tone is a perfectly adaptable colour that pops on pale skin like mine. The formula is silky and makes it easy to apply and blend out to a sheer colour if desired. This shade is completely different to my trusted MAC Velvet Teddy but it allows me to ease into venturing into the more daring lip shades.
